How To Style: Mint

I’m going to get straight to the point. Everyone knows that the color mint is one of the most popular colors this season and in style for spring and summer. Personally, I think mint is a very beautiful color, but surprisingly for some it can be a little hard to work with. Keep reading to see how to style the color mint and several pieces that you can buy to get on to the mint wagon!

Certain colors really make an outfit pop and mint is one of them. Mint is especially popular for spring and summer because it carries a fresh vibe. I’ll admit, wearing a loose mint shirt during the summer sounds like the perfect outfit to me. However, in one second, you will discover that there are many ways to incorporate mint into your outfit.

Let’s begin with mint colored tops. I love the upper left top from Forever21 because of the pretty designs on the shirt. This top is probably the most easiest to accessorize with because the pattern on the shirt is an accessory itself. For most of these tops, I would recommend wearing white bottoms because mint and white create the ultimate fresh vibe. However, pairing a mint top with jeans is also perfect for a casual summer/spring day.

Mint shorts and pants usually all look pretty alike, but sometimes vary in shades of mint. Try out different mint shades and see what you like! Mint shorts and pants are like shirts—you could wear a white shirt or some neutral colored shirts. Patterned shirts also work. Try out different shirts and see which one you like.

If you like to wear dresses, pairings shouldn’t be that difficult. Wearing a mint dress can brighten up your day, and there are many cute dresses I have seen like this one from Free People and this one from Modcloth.com. If you pick up a mint dress with a lot of designs, minimal accessories are needed. However, if you pick up a plain mint dress (which I REALLY want), you can accessorize with different colors (maybe some pastel colorblocking?), a little bit of glitter accessories, or stick to neutrals.

Another way to incorporate mint into your outfit is through your shoes. I have seen various mint colored shoes everywhere, so I don’t think that should be too hard to find. If you’re looking for heels, one of the popular designs is mint suede. I found one from Urban Outfitters here. However, if you prefer flats, flats are a great way to have a very subtle pop of mint.

Lastly,my favorite, ACCESSORIES! If I feel kind wary about having too much mint into my outfit, I like to wear pops of mint in my accessories. There are various accessories you can find in many stores, from rings to necklaces to hats to watches.

Mint is a beautiful color to play around with, and can brighten up an outfit. Just have fun experimenting with the color and you can find out what you like and what fits your style.
